What is the alternative?

Some opinions, comments and links relating to what is happening in this great nation and, in particular, in Western Colorado.

I have allowed Coxnotes to become some sort of obligation on my part. If I am late getting it out I find myself fretting a little. Frankly, what I put on this page is as much for me as it is for my readers. Sometimes I just need to get a few things off my chest and I need to feel like someone is listening. Thank you all for being the listeners.

Those damned Islamic terrorists did it again. This time they terrorized Paris. Now I hear that they have another attack in mind for the U.S. Sometimes I feel that we are in a hopeless situation.

France has certainly not been one of our best allies over the years, but they are certainly closer on all levels than the likes of Al Qaeda, and ISIS. What happened to the innocent people in Paris should not happen to anyone, and certainly not for the reasons adopted by the sub-human Islamist that perpetrated the attacks.

I do not want to see any more of our young people killed on foreign soils and I do not think they have much of a chance of succeeding in any endeavor while serving under the current Commander-In-Chief. I came to the conclusion long ago that Barack Hussein Obama is one of the worst, if not the worst, thing that has happened to this country in a long time. Everything he does is in direct conflict with everything this country has long stood for. He is systematically tearing apart our constitution and putting us further and further behind in nearly every aspect of our very existence. The problem is that he still has several months to continue on his pathway to U.S. destruction.

No, I do not want to see more lives lost, but I cannot see the alternative. We can fight using trained men and women or we can surrender our innocent citizens in another 9-11-style attack. We can turn more terrorist loose to return to the planning rooms of ISIS or we can bring them onto American soil and treat them like they are U.S. citizens, protected with our constitutional rights while our real constitutional rights are being taken away. What kind of choice is that?

I am lucky enough to live in an area that is probably a relatively low priority on the attack list of the Islamic Extremists. For that I am thankful, but I think back to that day the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were attacked and I realize that we all knew people who were directly impacted by that day. We live in a very mobile and connected society. These threats are not threats against just anyone; they are threats against our children and loved ones. The threats are not some imagined theoretical plot, they are real and likely to happen at any given time. I can only wish we had leaders that could stand up to their responsibilities.

I long for the days of Ronald Reagan when this country was strong. Being strong prevents so many problems. The radical goofballs did not need to be bombed, they only needed to know that we could bomb them and that, given the right provocation we would do just that. It is a simple concept called deterrence. We no longer have that, thanks to a series of leaders who have not kept us where we should be. Building back is going to be difficult and I am afraid we are going to suffer along the way.

God bless those French people who have now suffered the barbaric actions of the radical Islamic nut cases. And God help us (U.S.) get through this.

Remember, I only send out these missives to those who have asked for them. I do not share your email addresses with anyone and I use the Reagan email precisely because they don’t share or sell the addresses either. If you are getting this because someone forwarded it to you and you don’t want it, tell him or her not to forward any more. On the other hand, if you received a copy and would like to see more of my ranting, simply drop me a line at coxnotes@Reagan.com I will put you on my exclusive, but growing list.
