Some opinions, comments and links relating to what is happening in this great nation and, in particular, in Western Colorado.
A couple of weeks ago I wrote a little here about Operation Choke Point. I was a little surprised by some of the feedback I received; most surprising was the few people who have never heard of the operation.
Operation Choke Point is a plan launched by the U.S. Dept. of Justice. On the surface, and in most of the DOJ explanations, Choke Point is an aggressive attempt to curb “financial fraud.” But, as is the case with so many government “operations,” the framers of the regulations start throwing in a bunch of stuff that comes from their own morality. So an operation that on the surface is supposed to focus on illegal activities like cable box de-scrambler sales, credit card schemes and pyramid sales, also gets the green light to go after many legal activities, including ammunition sales, firearms sales, on-line pharmaceutical sales and surveillance equipment sales.
The end result, when we have people like Eric Holder involved, is that those legal activities that he disagrees with end up getting more attention than the real illegal activities. Almost everything this justice department does works that way. The immigration situation is proof of that.
What prompted my comments of two weeks ago was the announcement by Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI) that he intended on holding some hearings regarding Operation Choke Point. There are strong indications, according to what I read in Breitbart’s reports, that this attention on firearms likely came from Duffy’s home state and became a priority with DOJ when they realized that a legal gun dealer in Hawkins had his bank account closed because of Choke Point.
It is important for me to note that I am not a single-issue voter. I encourage everyone to become aware of as much of what is going on as possible, but in this case, our Second Amendment rights are being threatened, and they are being threatened by an administration that does everything through deceit and back-door policies implemented through regulations and executive action. I think most of what they do is unconstitutional. So, in a way, I am a single-issue voter and my single-issue is that of basic constitutional rights.
As we speak Loretta Lynch is being considered to replace Eric Holder. If any senator can look you in the eye and say that he or she thinks Eric Holder and Barack Obama are undermining the constitution, and then vote for a person who has already said she thinks what they are doing is okay, that senator deserves to hear our voices loud and strong and they need to hear them before they vote on her appointment. Loretta Lynch is just another Obama operative. Nothing will change and the next two years will result in much, much more of the same.
Remember, I only send out these missives to those who have asked for them. I do not share your email addresses with anyone and I use the Reagan email precisely because they don’t share or sell the addresses either. If you are getting this because someone forwarded it to you and you don’t want it, tell him or her not to forward any more. On the other hand, if you received a copy and would like to see more of my ranting, simply drop me a line at coxnotes@Reagan.com I will put you on my exclusive, but growing list.
